Link to the FDIC Website
7/23/08

With the FDIC taking over some prominent banks in recent weeks, many of our clients have asked about how much coverage they are entitled to when the account is owned by a trust. HERE IS ANOTHER REASON TO HAVE A LIVING TRUST! Your account is covered for $100,000 for each qualified beneficiary under your revocable living trust. So if you have three children as your beneficiaries in your trust, and the trust owns the account, your coverage is $300,000. If you and your spouse have three children as beneficiaries in your trust and the trust owns the account, the beneficiaries are counted for each spouse and the coverage now goes up to $600,000. Here is a link that you may find useful in determining coverage in your particular situation. http://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/insured/ownership4.html#revocable
